Children's eyes are their most important school supplies. However, over 30 million kids in the U.S. have undetected vision problems. These can lead to difficulties in school and are often misdiagnosed as learning disabilities.
So, we set out with Alcon to start a conversation between doctors, schools, parents, and kids about the importance of early childhood eye exams with an eBook. It tells the story of Howard the Hedgehog at show and tell showing off his new glasses and talking about his trip to the eye doctor. The book includes short animations about what actually goes on at an eye exam.
Displays in Walmart and their Vision Center during the back-to-school period encouraged families to set up eye exams before the school year started.
